How To

Caring for your Pillows and Quilts

Spending so much of our time in bed, it is important that the pillows and quilts we have feel beautiful wash after wash.

Your pillows and quilts need tender love and care, just like the rest of your bed linen.

Whilst Sheridan quilts have been engineered to an exceptionally high standard, there are simple things you can do to keep your pillows and quilt in the best shape possible.

The Care Checklist

Quilts

  • Always follow the care instructions on product labels, as some materials require dry cleaning, whilst others are machine washable.
  • Your quilt should be washed at least twice per year.
  • Place your quilt in direct sunlight every month to allow it to air. The sun is a natural antibacterial agent which will keep your quilt hygienic and fresh, assisting to kill germs between laundering.
  • As you change your quilt seasonally, place your quilt in a sealed bag so it stays fresh. The original packaging of your Sheridan products is ideal for storage. We recommend leaving the zip slight open o enable air to circulate whilst your quilt is stored.

Pillows

  • Always follow the care instructions on care labels.
  • Generally speaking, washing your pillows in warm water prevents the build-up of allergens more effectively than washing in cold temperatures. However we always recommend washing your products as per the care label to ensure the cleanest, most hygienic wash.
  • Place your pillows in direct sunlight and allow them to air. The sun is a natural antibacterial agent which will keep your pillows hygienic and fresh, assisting to kill any germs in between laundering your products.
  • Placing a pillow protector on your pillows will ensure they last longer, and will keep your pillows stain free and fresh.
  • We suggest replacing your pillows every 18 month to two years to ensure they stay fresh and clean.

A tip for keeping your pillows healthy is to place them in direct sunlight and allow them to air.
